Anybody have any experience with electricity arcing from the + terminal of the coil to the base of the primary lead and then a smaller arc from the base of the primary to the - terminal? I've tried replacing the coil, points, condensor, and cap but it hasn't helped. The mech. at the local MF dealer said they all do it and to just tape it all up. I've tried and it still arcs. I can hear the snap of the arc every few seconds when I'm operating the machine and it seems to be mocking me. Any help would be apreciated.

Hi Gunner, electricity takes the easiest path to ground, and it is easier to jump to the coil terminals then it is to jump the gap of the sparkplugs when the cylinder is under compression,if you have sparkplug wires that have high resistence or dist. cap or rotor that has to big of gap, like the carbon button in the center of the cap wore or broke, or bad coil wire or 1 plug wire that is open you are going to see this happen, a automotive ignition scope shows all this but for the cost of parts on these tractors you can probably just replace the wires, cap and rotor cheaper, good luck, Gregg
