#12 vs #126
The #12 is nice but just ran across a #126 that is as nice or not better. They do want a dollar or two more but not sure it will be worth it or not.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

We sold many, many and they are a top notch
baler. Remember they are older so it depends
on how it has been cared for. Has it been
stored inside? If outside all the time rust
can accumulate behind the plunger slides and
force them out enough the plunger will wedge.
The first year of 12's had a shorter plunger. The bale was not as square. MF added a kit to
them. Hoping all the dealers put them in. Chuck

Thanks for your reply. The one I'm looking at has been in a barn, so it looks good.
Taking it for a test run this weekend , hope it's better than the IH Rake that I bought and had to rebuild.

I have a #3, which is the same animal but smaller, I think. It had been sitting outside for 40+ years with a stuck plunger. I finally got the plunger unstuck, but it's still so tight the old THD Wisconsin can't pull it more than a stroke or two. How do I get those shims out so can clean them up or replace them? Do I just force the plunger further back into the bale chamber?

If the slide rails are not all grooved out
you can re-use. Some elbow grease is re-
quired to scrape all the rust out that
has been the culprit forces the slides
outward. Or if you have the means to grind
down the rails, or leave a shim or two out.
Chuck.

Hi Jerry
I also have a #3 Baler which i converted to PTO drive with a #9 drive shaft. That had the same problem with the plunger. Unbolted the plunger shaft and pulled it out the back with a Come- along . You will probably break off a few bolts getting the runners out but parts are available through the dealer. Runners and shims are pricey!!!
JJ.
