MF 165. There are 2 fittings underneath the engine block forward of the oil pan. One will take grease fine. The other would not. Took off the nipple and pumped grease through. Tried to clean out the hole, but my pick would only go in past the threads a little until it hit metal. I am assuming some sort of plate is there. Do I need to turn the wheels one way or another before trying to grease to move the plate?

Hi,
Seems like you are referring to the grease nipples on the vertical steering shaft. If you have cleaned all of the debris from the hole and hit metal (not the shaft) then it would appear that the bush was not fitted in line with the grease inlet. With a fine pointed screw driver or similar look for a small gap at 3 or 9 o'clock positions and try and clean it out. Jack the front up and turn the steering back and forth whilst trying to pump grease in. EVery grease point is important but particularly these.

No, turning the wheels won't help. Probably caked up with old solidified grease. Jacking the wheels off the ground may help. Otherwise dissolve the old grease somehow.
