Hello all,
I found a 3pt backhoe for $2500. The guy is at a dealer and sounded motivated to sell for less. He said the hydraulic cylinders needed polishing, the aluminum handles were broke (some) and the unit was Massey labled and had a digging depth of 10'. He said it was for a 60 to 70 HP tractor. (I have a Ford 4000 about 52hp). I could probably get it a good bit cheaper. But, are parts available, are they a strong unit? Any problems. He also said it was a 4 pt that was converted to a 3 point. He said it can slide to the left or right if digging in confined areas. Any comments appreciated. I think it would be worthless on my tractor weight wise. I do not have a loader either. Sorry for the long post.

George

George...The older loader frame mounted backhoes are very heavy 1000-1500 lbs. Chances are that is why he told you that it should go on a 60-70hp machine. The one I have is a MF220 it will side shift after loosening a few bolts and retightening after moving it on the rail. Unless you are mounting it to an existing loader frame on your Ford you may have some problems when trying to lift it.
