First ground the wire that runs from the gauge to the tank sending unit if the gauge is good and it has fire going to the gauge it will show full. If does not show full like that check to be sure you have fire going to the gauge. If you do fire to the gauge it is bad. The fuel gauge in the diesel MF35 get it's fire from the oil pressure switch on the back of the oil pressure gauge. Hope this helps

First, I would remove the sender and inspect the float to see if it is filled with gasoline. Oftentimes the floats develope leaks over the years, fill with gasoline, and sink to the bottom. I would then inspect the wiring to see if there is a fuse.

I repaired the fuel gauge on my MF-35 diesel yesterday. The only thing wrong was that the hot wire to the gauge was disconnected. One side of the gauge must be connected to switched 12V+, the other side to the sending unit. If you connect the gauge directly to the battery it will drain the battery when the engine is not running. The sending unit is merely a level sensitive variable resistance, between the gauge and ground.

Hope this helps.
