my massey 35x drives on when clutch is engaged and does not want to go into gear, I would of believed this to be a clutch adjustment issue. only it happened suddenly not over a period of time is there a easy way of checking clutch, or would it be a gearbox problem?

the fingers on the clutch assemble have probably
broken, remove the inspection cover located directly under the bell houseing and look at the fingers (all 3). These 3 fingers are depressed by the throw-out bearing when the clutch is pressed down.

Remove the inspection plate from the transmission bellhousing and look for parts laying in that area it sounds like you either have a broke release finger pin or one has came out that is not uncommon on those clutch.

Does it dissengage suddenly? If so it could be an oil seal allowing oil to contaminate the plates. Check for oil leaking from the drain hole.

You could have a broken clutch finger, this happened on our Ferguson 40, with the same symptoms.
