Can anyone tell me what type and weight oil to put in standard transmission of a Massey-Ferguson 250?

Hi,
If you are in the UK, any good brand of 'Tractor Universal' oil is OK.

Unfortunately, this tractor (although made in Great Britain, as far as I can find out) is in central Texas where summer temps get to 100 degrees (farenheit). I don't have a manual for this tractor but pretty sure it's not got the oil in it for this area; the hydraulics are not working right. Does anybody know where on the net I might find out about this kind of problem or have any personal experience with this kind problem? ND

MF250 tractors that were imported to the US uses the Massey Ferguson Permatran 3 in the transmission and hydraulics or one of the universal transmission hydraulic oils that meet the Permatran 3 specs will work.

Hello Nolan,
Yes the oils are destined to work in different climates but if you are having hydraulic problems it may not be the oil. Please tell me in as much detail as you can what problems you are having and perhaps I can help.
Regards
DavidP
