David, you are bang on and i always had the feeling that the answer was ,like so many other things staring me right in the face but i just could not see it. In any case i know more about lift arm adjustment than i ever thought i would. My dad always used to say that most good decisions came as a result of experience, but that most experience seemed to come from a bad decision. In any case david HAPPY NEW YEAR,S to you and your family sam

david. it was something so stupid that i can not believe it myself As i stated before i have an itt book on this model which has a really annoying habit of skipping over certain aspects. Ihad reread your replies maybe 20 times and still came back to one part where you said that with the leaver in the transport position that there should be light pressure on the spring and that the rod should be just engaged in the frame.this was not happening with mine and could not as there were 2 drift pins in holes about three quarters of an inch from the evd of each rod and had always been there . Further reading between the lines in my sorry excuse for a manual leads me to think that they are there only to ease in assembly and disassembly and then are removed. i removed them and eveything that you said fell into place I cannot believe that i have spent this much time on something so stupid but someone long before me must have had the cover off, worked on it and put back on leaving the pins in place and never having seen one before i assumed that they should be there and thought nothing of it.STUPID

Hi Sam,
That's fantastic news. It is sometimes too easy not to see the simple answers and look for more complicated ones. Yes, the pins are put in to ease remaoval and assembly. Never mind, you probably have a better idea now as to how the system works than a lot of owners.
Happy New Year
