Got a Massey Ferguson 100 diesel and was looking at the dash lights, they seem to be run from a 250 volt wico power supply, anyone know if you can still get these or will I have to make a power supply for this myself

Re: 100 dash lights--working now in reply to Kevin Bismark, 12-29-2005 15:15:51
Put the new power supply in on saturday, and low and behold the dash lights glowed, do they ever look good. Picked up a Year-A-Round cab for it on Saturday, have it sitting in the shop so I can clean it up and paint it, is that ever going to be nice to blow snow with now...

Wonder what the original lights are worth now? in reply to Kevin Bismark, 12-29-2005 15:15:51
All my original lights still work on my MF135 Orchard. They look neat at night with the blue floresent look. I wonderd a long time ago what type of bulbs were used till I found this site. What are they worth now? My tractor will never be a show tractor cause I use it every day on the farm. I would hate to damage them if they are valuable for a proper restor job. I could allways put standard cheap gauges in and remove them while they still are in good shape and work. Mark H.

You can still get all the parts for the gauges from Massey. I needed an Alt gauge and the "block box" that is under the dash on my 1130. Called my massey dealer and UPS man dropped off the parts the next day. The boxes looked new although they could have been setting on the shelf for a while.

Barnrat, Who is your dealer? It sounds as if maybe he has some old stock parts.

Mabie Brothers. I've never been there, but I do all my parts business with them. If they don't have it they can find it.

It was supposed to say it was an 1100 diesel, the computer I was on at the time was pretty slow, that might be the same deal though, don"t think I had seen that type of lighting on the guages before, never looked at them that close on another tractor we had years ago, I think what caused the problem is that a previous owner had spliced in a 12 volt lamp for something in the dash into this power supply, so if I am lucky enough to come up with something that will work will have to change that thing out..

Yes, The 1100 has the same type of gauge lighting as the 100 series. We had an 1100 and 1150 both of which had the electroluminescent gauge lights.

Hey, thanks, at least I know I am on the right track with this now, really scratched my head when I found that power supply on the electrical print and thought it had to be something kind of strange when it comes to tractors, went in around thinking about it when I first started thinking about it, must have been 30 years since I saw one of these guages lit up at night. Thanks for the help, hope I can get someone to get parts or to rebuild this so it works.
Kevin

Kevin, I recently restored a 175 Massey and encountered the same situation as you with the dash lights. The original gauges were quite unique and were called (Electroluminescent) They glow with a greenish tint. The gauges and power-pak are no longer available from Massey-Ferguson (Agco). However, there are people who repair the gauges and power-paks. I was lucky enough to find a new power-pak and temperature gauge from a fellow named Tom Dole who used to be a Massey dealer. He has many (new-old stock parts). I will try to find his number and email to you. My amp gauge was also bad. I had it repaired by a company called JC Auto. JC Auto can also repair the Wico Power-pak. They did a fabulous job and the gauge works well. I also learned from various sources that many chrysler corp. cars(Imperials and Chargers) in the 60's also used this lighting system. The power-pak from the these cars was made by Wico and I have been told they will work on the tractor gauges. I am glad I went through the trouble to restore these gauges back to original. I go to a lot of tractor shows and the die hard Massey guys there are amazed that this tractor still has the original style gauges. Some have even asked if I wanted to sell the gauges. Needless to say they are not for sale! Good luck and if I discover anything else I will let you know. Below is information for JC Auto.

My son is restoring a 1967 Massey Ferguson 135.
We are in need of water temp and amp gauge with electroluminescence.
I am interested in obtaining Tom Dole (person listed in earlier post) phone number or email address. Can some one help?

I e-mailed those folks and never herd back, they might just be busy, found a guy who claims to have a power supply and will call him tomorrow to get it shipped back here. With any luck when the computer crashes and I need this info again you will be here, they might be able to rebuild the guages or the whole deal, don't know but I think the guy's you talked about were the only ones I really saw that talked about rebuilding the guages. Curious to know what the price is on the power pak. When I was growing up I thought those green dash lights were neat. Originally had a MF 180 & 2 - MF 1100 with these. Down to only a 1100.

Got an e-mail from a guy who has one on the shelf for about $85.00 so I am going to get it from him, I will keep the old one and see if I can get it fixed, or do it myself, he said it was the last one he had, I think you could rebuid it if you knew what the values of the componets are, so at leat you can get the stuff close.
