Hi,
My dad recently passed away and I am trying to help my mother identify various things that dad had so that she can determine their value and sell them. A friend gave me the equivalent of the blue book of tractors, but the book is not of much use if you don't know the basic model number. Dad had a older Massey-Ferguson. There are various part numbers on it, but I can't locate the serial number. The part numbers start out with MHF and a lot of them go something like this: MHF 181-402-M1. Can anyone out there help me, I have some decent pics that could email if someone copuld take a look at them. Or could someone post a link to a site that might help me indentify it. Thanks

Jetson, My sincere condolences to you and your family at the passing of your dad. Somewhere there IS a serial number tag, near the dash, on the housing between the transmission and engine, or ???, keep looking and scraping. One MHF that I know of is a MHF 40, somewhat similiar to a MF 50 in shape. Look to the left of this page for the "Galleries" section, then "Tractor Photos". Click on it and upload one of your pics. Then, copy that address and paste it to the "Optional Image URL" box below this message and post it. It will allow those here, MUCH more knowledgable than I, to tell you what it is. You could also Search the "Tractor Photos" for Massy Harris or Massy Harris Ferguson and see if one comes up that looks like yours. Best of luck with the search.

Judging from the steering arrangement and the 6 speed transmission, it appears to be a 35. Is there an aluminum tag any where near the dash or on the right side of the engine?

That four-spoke rear wheel confuses me. Any Massey and MF wheels I have seen are six spoke.

Hi Rod. When you spokes, are you refering to the slides for the power adjust rims? I just checked some sales literature I have and a picture of my 65. All of the tractors pictured with 28" wheels have 4 slides. Those with 38" wheels have 6 slides. Happy New Year.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked over the tractor fairly good and can't find the serial number, but I could have overlooked it. I won't be near the tractor for another week or two, so I can't go look at it right now. However, just knowing that is a 35 helps narrow down my task. Are the serial numbers put on with a tag - could the tag come off, or are they stamped into or molded into the casting? Thanks again.
