Hello to all

I have a massey 35 gas..I pull a 6ft finish mower around in the summer no problem..When winter arrives it is a different story...With the back blade on it runs fine for the first 5 minutes after that it spits and sputtersand dies out it will restart with the choke on but runs terrible...I changed the plugs put dry gas in all to no avail..Any help???

Thanks in advance..

Scott

If the carb is icing up, add one quart of isopropanol to a tankful of gas - that should eliminate the icing problem...

this is a long shot!!

my MF135 did exactly the same thing but it started shortly after I changed the points, engine ran like raped ape until it warmed up and then popped and backfired and tractor couldn't move itself

I forgot to put some grease on the rubbing block and the block wore down, closed up the points so they barely opened

bit of grease plus readjusted the points fixed it

Sounds like it might be a little lean. Try setting the carb up according to the manual. In the summer when its warm they will run lean but not when its cold. Rick.

Sounds like carb iceing, only way to fix that is let it run till warm before useing it much. Common problem this time of year.

Yep bet if you look at the carb when it does that you will see ice forming on the out side of it. If so just let it run for a little and it will clear up.
