I am having problems keeping my 1100 engine running. The tractor started easy (on a large battery) and ran good. I don"t use it alot except for about 6 (12 hours each)weekends a year. I started getting lots of water in the fuel. The pump bowl is usually full before I use It and will produce about 1/2 of the bowl during 6 hours of use. When it sits the fuel filter bowls turn milky. It looks so bad that I change the filters or if they are real new, I remove them and let them drain and dry. I have drained the tanks a couple of times and use power ...?? in the red bottle as an additive. I don"t keep much diesel in the tanks so that I have fresh fuel when I need it. I"m sure this causes some of my problem through condensation, don"t know what"s worse (water in the tank or old diesel fuel). One day I filled the pump bowl with Berrymans B12. Then the tractor would start and run good and shut down after about 10 minutes or so, (immediately like pulling out the kill switch). Later it would start again usually needing starter fluid to prime it. I read on the can "not recommended for diesel engines" I don"t know if this caused it but it is suspect in my mind (seals). Anyway a (relative from out of state)tractor dealer mechanic took a look and we found there was no return fuel from the injecter line to the tank. We replaced this line with a temporary hose but didn"t seem to fix the problem.
I have formulated a plan would like some opinions/suggestions:
1)Work on the lift pump first. Check the screen, then rebuild/replace as needed
2)Clean injector supply and return manifold
3)rebuild/replace injectors
4)if all else fails: rebuild/replace charge(injector)pump
Also is it feasible to rebuild the injectors and the injector pump or are they normally worn out and best to replace these. I know injectors are available don"t know about an injector pump

In my experience, it is about the same cost to either buy another rebuilt pump or have your existing pump rebuilt. It seems to run at least $500.00 no matter where you go, so that would be the last alternative. The injectors that you buy are usually rebuilt also, and again its the same story, its about the same cost to have them rebuilt versus buying already rebuilt.
It seems to me that your list is pretty well thought out, starting with the least cost alernatives first, so I would follow that. On the good side, the Perkins diesels are one of the least expensive engines there is to buy parts for.

Can someone recommend a rebuilder of nozzles and injector pump. Can"t seem to find one locally or on the web.
