I have a 1952 44 with the H260 engine. I just got the manuals for it and they all show the engine with an oil filter. Mine does not have one. Were some of these made without oil filters, or has some pinhead taken it off somewhere in the past? Still learning about this tractor. Thanks all.

Thanks very much to all who replied. In no particular order...

Nope. No filter anywhere. All I have is two pipe plugs in the block where the lines should go. This poor dear has suffered from who knows how many years of coat-hanger mechanic work. The ignition switch is two wires (one of them solid) that stick out of the hole in the dash where the switch should be. The primary wire to the starter has been insulated using a piece of garden hose. One wheel has a concrete weight on it, the other is fluid filled. The list goes on and on. It runs like a champ, just all the details that need help.

Thanks to the good folks on this board, I've already managed to locate a replacement filter housing and brackets and it's on it's way to me.

What filter element does this need, and where do you usually find them?

Again, thanks all. This is my first real tractor so this is being quite the learning experience.

Robin

Hi Robin,i'm sure that you looked but i just want to double check,is it missing from under the battery box?no can with a nut on the bottom that you remove to pull the can down to reveal the tin replaceable filter? Again i'm sure you checked, just think it awful that the poor old girl wouldn't have a filter.best regards, phill.

Thanks Gritty, that's pretty much what I thought. Now all I gotta do is find one.
