My MF 175makes a noise in transmission when Multi-Power is in High & clutch is disengaged.Stops when clutch is engaged. Was mowing with a 3 pt. 5 ft. mower when something made a loud noise.finished mowing, put MultiPower in High& noise like bad bearing or chipped tooth was evident.Need help pinpointing problem. Last fall using same mower, tranny popped & noise started, a tooth chipped out of pto drive gear.Replaced that spring 05, everything looked ok? 5ft.mower tomuch?

Have you got an overrun clutch on your mower? The momentum of a mower driving back up through the gearbox will do damage. Suggest you check this before spending money on transmission repair.

Good suggestion, willtry this to protect transmission. What is strange, I use same mower on MF135 & 2 other 32 HP tractors without over ride clutch, no damage to those. Any idea what can be making noise in tranny as gear & bearings turn in my 175?

Now multi-power does not shift into high range. Pushing lever to high does nothing to change speed. Whats wrong with multi-power? There is a small filter canister in front of radiator to the top right side, with oil line attached, is this for multi-power oil?
