I know for a fact that condensation plays a big part in milky appearing fluids. I'm absolutely sure that no rain, etc. is entering my tractor, yet I get the same thing happening. Everyone I talk to about it, mostly well seasoned farmers, say condensation, especially at this time of the year (warm days and cool nights), is at fault. This combined with lack of hard use only adds to the problem. Maybe better ventilation of the gearbox/rearend etc. might help a bit, not sure how to accomplish that though.

Another cause is condensation, especially if stored outside in the sun.The sun heats ut the tranny etc , then at night it cools hence the condensation.

One of the usual places are cracked gear lever boots.

Is this a common problem? How hard to fix?

Mike
