I recently bought a MF 235 diesel (standard clearance) with inoperative power steering. I replaced the pump which was bad but still no luck. Took apart the steering unit and discovered a bad control valve (listed in IT Manual as a control body). Apparently it had cracked and a previous owner had brazed it and it had cracked again in another place. I've been to a MF dealer; MF lists it as obsolete/unavailable. So far efforts to find one through a salvage dealer have been unsuccessful. Does anyone out there have any advice? Also, has anyone had experience converting a 235 to manual steering?

Did your dealer offer to find this part on the
Agco or MF locator? Checking what I thought you
need I tried the "Depot" in Wisconsin but no luck.
Is your dealer giving you enough help? He can put
requests for new or used parts or assemblies on a
locator that goes to all dealers. I am a retired
MF dealer and I can tell you that this was one
weakness in that model but original owner and the
selling dealer should have put in updates to make
it better. Maybe they were-but? Chuck Bergstrom
