Well, the available Fords and JDs didn't stack up to the 135 diesel...got it home tonight. I haven't had the chance to work it yet, but all indication are that it will capably handle the work I have for it.

I've seen numerous persons ask about serial numbers, so I will succomb to the ritual. I have 390XX (not sure about the last two numbers until I clean it off). If requests for such information are an annoyance I appologize. If not, I would appreciate a link to available information or comments anyone may have. I believe it is a UK model, and the lights on the front say England-something which I guess confirms it.

I'm told it has fluid in the rear tires, in addition to wheel weights. I'm thinking about removing the fluid as the tires are good and don't do much "heavy" plowing or tilling. Comments?

Thanks again for the responses to my previous posts. It was a great help in evaluating my options.

Kurt

Re: MF Pulling stories in reply to Bob, 08-03-2000 08:45:26
Thanks for the stories. I have few first place trophy's pulling a 1130 and a 1150 in the stock classes. The 1150 pulled very competively even against modified stock JD's and IH's. The had a lot of money invested to get that extra 20 ft. Got a 2805 now. Does anyone have any info. or advise on pulling a 2805. How much HP. will it make stock with an inline pump. Thanks again for the stories.

My UK 135 has a 6-digit S/N 488-, made Aug '73. There are are a few distinctions to determine if UK or USA. Many UK tractors had the heavy front axle. Consists of a box center section, with heavy solid inserts. Also 2 power steering cylinders, one at each knuckle-not in the steering box. Shifting pattern may be different also. S/nN plate is located on TOP of dash, right side, on mine. If you can send me your email address I may be of more help.

Enjoy your tractor! They are great!

Re: MF IND403 (~MF185?) with MF320 backhoe in reply to kurt klingbeil, 05-29-2000 20:25:21
Hi Kurt -

Our 30 and 40 industrials have the automatic froward/reverse transmission (no clutch, fwd/reverse pedal on the right where brakes are normally). I'm assuming yours is similar.

The internal 3 point pump (and PTO if they had them) runs only when the forward/reverse pedal is engaged.

Not really satisfactory for what we now expect for three point and PTO operation. (If you are stepping up from a 9N, you'd be used to it!)

We looked at converting - arms etc are available, but decided not to. They work great for what they were intended - backhoe and loader.

We had to make sure they idled down when we took feet off the pedal, however. Slop in the interconnected throttle linkage caused a high idle speed, making them jump from one direction to the other.

Slowed down to 600 RPM they are smooth as frog's fur.

Hope this helps!

Jack
