hello from Australia

I have a MF40 with Front End Loader and Backhoe, I have to change the fan belt and want to know if there was an easy way to change it rather then take off the hydrolic pump and axel pivot etc.

There is no Easy way to change the fan belt on one of those tractors Here is the article from the CD repair Disc I sell for replacing the fan belt hope it will help

Changing the fan belt on tractors with front mounted pump There are a couple of ways to change the fan belt on the tractor with a front crankshaft driven pump you first remove the pump [1] You need an old pump to rob a shaft from. You then weld a socket to that the old pump shaft. If you have a regular transmission put both shift levers in high set the brakes turn the shaft clockwise the shaft has counterclockwise threads on it. The shaft can get very tight and if you have access to an impact wrench you will probably need it to bust the shaft loose If you have an industrial with the Instant Reverse (hydraulic shuttle) transmission you will have to use an impact for sure on them. [2] Without that homemade tool you remove the pump so the shaft can move forward. You unbolt the adapter plate from the crankshaft pulley. Some tractors there will be enough room you can slide the belt between the pulley and the adapter plate but most there will not be enough room for belt to slide through. If you don't have room to get the belt out you will have to put a jack under the oil pan to hold the weight (just take the weight do not raise the tractor) Loosen the six bolts 4 or 5 rounds the bolts that hold the front axle support to the engine so the front support can be pried forward enough to slide the belt through. You may also have to loosen the bolts the hold the front of the loader to the tractor.

I have seen where someone would put a second belt in place and tywrap it against the engine so there was a spare that was ready to go if the first ever failed. Only problem is that the second belt might not be in any better condition by the time it was required!
