Just check out these conversions, look at index then choose one that will meet your needs....Not as hard as you would think to do 6v to 12v conversion using a 10 SI alternator...Lot easier with wiring diagram (Picture).....HTH

David, most alternators require Negative ground you know so thats one issue you need to address. If you go with a true one wire internally regulated Alternator, once you have taken care of any proper grounding issues (i.e. convert to negative if your at positive now) it output would wire with 10 gauge wire to the ammeters Load (NOT to battery/starter) terminal. That should be the same terminal where the wire from the Voltage Regulators BAT terminal used to connect. I also replace the wire from the ammeters other Supply side terminal to the battery/starter with 10 gauge if its not already.

If it has no ammeter, the output can connect to the batterys hot ungrounded post which is often at the starter switch or solenoid.

If you go with a 3 wire alternator like the GM 10 SI, post back for further instructions. What ground you at now, pos or neg??? Im assuming youre at 12 volts correct??? and its a Gas tractor??

I have three diagrams, a one wire diagram that Big Dean sent me and the standard wiring diagrams for both gas and diesel. Those two are on Big Dean's cd that he offers for sale. It's well worth the $25 that he was and probably still is charging to burn the cd. send me your email address if you want me to send them to you. C. T.
