from all the Hoopla going on about Perkin,s V8,s
Not being that great,(even though they have a nice sound to them),
Maybe i wont buy one just because of the maitenence problem,s I hear about.
I thought it would be kinda neat to get an 1155,or a 2745 just to fix up,and play with somtime,s,
But from what I hear from different people,
Either be prepared to maintain it more often,
or go to another brand.
Maybe an IH 1466,or a Case 1370 would be a better buy as far as running it,Shoot, I dont know?
Im just trying to be careful on what I wanna get,
That,s all
Need alot of help on this, as there are alot of ,s on older tractor,s that you dont know the maintennce record on.
I like Massey,s alot, but If it,s gonna come to this,
Then Ill forget them, & go look at somthing else.
Maybe even an Allis,or a Ford.

Hi Kirk, hope your bubble isn't burst, but the wise advice that has been offered here may save you some major bucks and headakes down the road.Problem tractors like those (and the 1085's like we once had) are probably what led to M-F being swolled up by agco.Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Hey,

Well, one of those things was being bankrupt by Conrad Black. The Canadian Governemnt bailed them out ( A Canadian company!! ) and then eventually a couple of guys, on from the old IH days, and one form Allis started the Allis Gleaner Corporation ( AGCO )and thats where it all began. Now as for bad tractors, well I am looking for a 1155 myself, ( or something from the DX1000 line. ) EVERY company has the bad and the good, it just depends on the person who owns and maintains them.

Take care, & Good luck with whatever you buy!!

Post some pics once you find one!!

Will

That's very interesting,a person sure learns somthing new every day.As for the good I couldn't agree with you more.Still have an old 3505 at home, never had a minutes problem, also a 333d that works like a top.As far as the 1085 we had,I guess grandad probbably would have been happier spending a little more for an 1105.We worked the he!! out of it and had head gasket problems annualy and ring problems semi-annualy.Guess it would have been more reliable putting out 65 hp instead of 85.Thanks for the info.
