Just purchased a 3165 industrial with a loader and a backhoe. I've been in the process of doing a semi restoration. I'm wondering what he far shifter lever to the right is? I know there is hi/low and the actual gear selectorbut am unsure of the other. Thanks.

That lever is for forward and reverse that transmission is called a manual shuttle. If I can answer more questions email me

Ok, so the far right lever selects forward and reverse!? Then why is there a reverse positionon the actual gear selector?

When the forward and reverse shuttle is install in the gear box the reverse idler is move from the back to the front I think if you will try the reverse in the transmission you will find it is not there. those tractors had a plate bolted on them that covered the shift pattern cast in to the gear box with the shuttle shift pattern on it those plates get left off a lot of times when they are work on.

Hi Danee
the original gearbox simply has reverse retained. When the tractor was fitted out with a loader the forward and reverse shuttle mechanisms where fitted at the same time.
After a bit of practice in the shuttles use, the time taken to load a truck is a lot faster than trying to change gears in the gearbox to go back and forwards.
