The multi-power on out 165 is intermitant. It slips sometimes and engages w/ a shudder, othertimes it isn't there at all. The 3 pt still works, although they are weak(think the seal is blown). The clutch is going out (smoked it some last year on the blower because we needed the 285 w/ good brakes to pull loads down the road)

We are planning on sending it to the shop sometime soon because of the clutch, brakes and multi-power. I also need to make the suction line bigger for the loader, it's plumbed into the rear end through the PTO plate.

Would be nice to have an idea what could be wrong w/ the MP though.

If you have to use the clutch to engage the PTO than it may all be related to the clutch. The m/p pump,3 pt hyd pump and PTO all run off the same shaft in the trans.

I was thinking that also, but I had the pto on, lifted the 3 pt and had the MP lever engaged at the same time, and the MP was the only thing not working. The PTO grinds when you engage it, because the clutch is out of adjustment, the hyd. are working all the time also, even when the clutch is fully depressed. Something just isn't right with the clutch, we've had it replaced several times, and we've only owned it for about 10-15 years. It does have a loader, and I'm sure that has a part to do with it, but it still seems excessive.

For a good 4-5 years we didn't have a loader on it which helped, we managed to go about 5-6 years on the last clutch, after our neighbors borrowed it to rake hay and put it on their generator..... . Donovan from Wisconsin
