500 series tractors were made between 1976 and 1982. MF 590 has Perkins A4.248 engine, about 77-80 hp. It is quite a stong machine like all Masseys of that style. I mean 500 serie is mechanically very close to 100 and 200 series. Typical problem with these is the steering wich gets loose quite often. We have had two 575"s and 590 turbo. Still have one 590 non turbo 8 speed sychro. Had no big problems with them.

Hi,
Engine HP is 75, PTO 67.7. First question, does it have a Multi-power transmission? If so, will it matter that you would not be able to tow it to start in the event of a flat battery. Great tractor, have not had any problems to speak of. Cabs are prone to rust on the floors and at bottom of mudguards. Two door cab models are worth more than one door. Check for any hydraulic problems. Rectification can be expensive as the tractor has to be split between gearbox and centre housing as well as the hydraulic cover removed.
Please come back if you need any more info.
