Anybody know where I can get a rubber gear shift boot for a Massey Pony? All I can find have round bases, and the Pony is an oblong slot on the bottom. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks...Stan

I think if your shifter is straight, there is a leather boot like the orginal someone has available out there, but I cannot remember who. If curved, like mine, I'm going to try a boot from a 8N. Looks pretty close. The Case-IH part number for the shifter boot for the 44,44-6, 101jr and sr is #A57876 called a cover. I think around 12$. Hope this helps.

Jim, I have the leather one (from Terry Kessel), but I do have the CURVED shifter. I want to get a stiffer rubber boot, so the shifter doesn"t wobble around. By my calculations, the boot should be 1.5 inch diameter at the base. The 8n and Case are 2 inch base. I"m gonna try and get one for an Allis B, which is 1.75 inch at the base. If it don"t work, I"ll use it on my Allis B.

Stan,, I bet that the boot was formed round and just stretched. I may be wrong, though, it wouldn't be the first time.

Dave, my friend, I"m thinking you`re a genius! That is probably exactly what`s going on. Now all I gotta do is figure out the proper circle size that will stretch to fit. Thanks, ...Stan

I'm also wondering if any size boot from Massey Harris will fit. Alberta Mike set me up with a Case boot that worked great on my Senior. I can't remember the model of Case thought, but I bought it at Case IH dealer. (Case 840?? Is that a model for Case??)

This is just off the top of my pointy head, but maybe you could get a few different size o-rings, and find which one fits the best and then you'd know what size the round boot should be.

You know what makes a good boot for a pony shifter, go to your local autoparts and pick up a master brake cylinder boot for a car that is about that size.
