Forgot to include this with my earlier post. What is the lever on the left hand side of the dash? said something about braking with motor speed if my memory serves me right ( which probably means I am wrong!)

Do you mean "Shift to high for engine braking?"
It is the "Multipower" switch. It is like an overdrive that works on every gear forward and reverse doubling up the ratios. This lever can be shifted without using the clutch pedal. The good news is, it is very handy device, great for baling plowing etc. if you are in low multipower and conditions get easier, just flick into high. Conversely, if you are working in 'high' and the conditions get worse (e.g. you are plowing and you hit a tough spot) flick it into low again. The bad news 1) "Shift to high for engine braking",always shift to high when going down a steep slope otherwise the tractor will 'run away' unless its pulling something stuck in the ground like a harrow or plow.
2) you cannot tow start a Multipower tractor. Also it is better to change gears with the multipower in low, otherwise they tend to 'lock'
