I have a MF Industrial tractor. Decals say that it is an MF 40. Sticker on the loader says MF 20. Serial number on the tractor is 9A 160221. Model number on the loader is MF 32 with a serial number of L87008623. It is a 2 cylinder deisel with 6 speed tranny.

I show 9A 160221 to be for a tractor built in 1973. The starting serial number for 1973 was 9A 152025 ending number was 9A 182760

Thanks Dean. It is a three cylinder diesel. I just have never seen a three cylinder with only two exhaust ports. Is this an MF 40 tractor?

Well I have good and bad news for you.

Massey-Ferguson never made any two cylinder engines. Chances are you have a Perkins engine which has three. I can't provide you with an exact year but I am going to guess since its a MF 40 that it was made after or around 1972 when the sheet style and logo were changed (Lets put it this way, does it have the block MF on it?).

Big Dean might know either way what year it is, but I am going to take a stab that its no earlier than 1972.

Thanks Christos. It is a three cylinder diesel. I just have never seen a three cylinder with only two exhaust ports. Dean says that it is a 1973. It does have the MF block decal on the sheet metal. I'm not sure that it is an MF 40 because of the MF 20 decal on the loader arm. The metal plate on the later has mobel MF 32 stamped on it.

I meant to say that the metal plate on the "loader arm" has "model" MF 32 stamped on it.

Garrett, I don't know what to tell you about the loader. Even though, where I live in Ohio, Pataskala used to be Massey Country, There aren't too many farmers that use MFs. What I do know is this, MF used to lump up its serial numbers. So as far as I know, all tractors made by MF after, eh, 1966 had the 9A prefix I guess until who knows when. As for your tractor, its almost like Massey 135. It should be about 35-38 hp. However, as you've figured out probably because its in yellow paint its one of their industrial models.
Since MF was broken up in the 80s or when it was sold off to AGCO, I don't know where you can get parts. Though, that engine should be the AG.152 Perkins. That engine was used on the MF 135 Deluxe Gas starting around 1968 from my research, and whatever materials I've scrounged. (mostly from my parts books.)

I hope this helps...I guess despite the fact MF is a world famous brand, no one had elected really to go indepth about the company than lets say IH, Deere, or Case, etc. And quite honestly thats a shame because MF are great tractors.

Again, I hope this helps some.
