Help! I am in the process of replacing the power steering cylinder and rack along with all the various seals and O-rings in the steering gearbox on a MF-135 diesel. Everything went back together just fine today until I got to the part about timing the two steering sector gears and the rack.I've read and re-read the IT manual but still seem to be having problems. It's OK until I install the upper sector gear, the one that turns the right wheel. It seems as if no matter what I do, I'm getting restricted turning either to the left or right, depending on how all the gears are meshed. I'm pretty sure that the lower sector and the ball nut on the steering shaft are meshed correctly. What am I doing wrong? Any tips/tricks/ easy way to get everything right? If I don't get this thing back together soon "The Better Half" is going to make me mow all 5+ acres with the weed eater! Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, Mark -

I have the MF shop manual for the 2135. The steering section in it is identical to our 135 US, which seems to be what you have from your note. (Power steering cylinder and control valve are a part of the box on the US models. The UK model has a separate external control valve and cyls on the front axle.)

If you give me a fax number, I will send you the relevant pages (5 or 6). They are a bit more detailed than the I&T manual on this point.

Jack
