Have been slowly rebuilding a MH no. 6 mower and was wondering if any of you know if the swathboard and swathboard stick can be built/made from a templet? Or does it have to be ordered? Also are there decals available for this mower? And where can they be found?

Also as this is my first MH (am a Farmall man) can any of you give me your opinion on this mower.

Any and all help is appreciated.

If the number 6 mower is your first MH possession,
you're looking at more museum item, than a great
workng mower. The unique 'J' hitch was about the
only miracle, since you could bolt up to a MH 30
or 44 tractor in a few minutes. The sickle blades
were thin, broke constantly. By the late 50's, a
New Holland 44/45/46 series sickle mower proved
far superior, though not as easy to hitch up to
a MH tractor. I'd suggest you invest your sweat
labor in retoring a row crop 44 Special tractor.
For the vintage '52-'55 era, this model is about
as good as it gets.
