Hi All,

I have a 101 Senior with the Continental F-244 engine in it. I understand that there are others with a F-226 engine it like the 44-6.

My question is, are many of the parts interchangeable between these engines?

Thanks for any posts!

RandyN

Your 101 was probably set up to burn kerosene,
thus the 244 engine. If this were the reason,
and not an engine swap in 1985, the original
pistons may have been cast, and the carb not
a Zenith 62 series, but a M/S. The confusion on
sixty year old tractors is the low budget solution to failing components, that will get the
'down' tractor working again. Though MH built the
last 44-6K, in '49, the 244 engine surfaced in some military built 44's, in the early 50's. I
assume the military models all were gas. As far
as engine parts, being Continental, most of the
parts interchange, excluding pistons & sleeves. I
believe the bore was a fraction different. You
can hear of 'Kaiser heads' on some 6's, but this
is more shop play, than production line.

Interesting info! Thanks! It's set up for gas now and with a Zenith carb on it.

I guess one particular wonder is that I've found points/condensor/rotor sets, etc. marked for 44-6...I'm just assuming that it would be the same on the F-244.

Thanks!

Never mentioned the serial number. I checked though....it's a 101 Senior row crop.

Thanks,
