Temp gauge on a MF255

My Massey has a mechanical temp gauge. It is a SW brand, Stewart Warney?? I think. I have put the third one of these on now and it is froze up at operating temp. Just sits there on around 180.

Could this be some rust or some build up where that goes into the head that keeps locking these things up? Any excess line length I just make in a big loose coil under the dash so don't think that is a problem.

Getting tired of replacing them. Tractor has a new radiator and I checked it when I am running it and steam won't come out of the radiator and cool to the touch so I'm sure it is OK but I would like the security of having that gauge working right.

Sould I just bite the bullet and go back to the stock electrical unit? It would be a pain to figure out how that thing was wired in now probably.

Jerry I would try a different brand of gauge that same type gauge was used on the MF100 series tractors and I know where there is a lot of them that have never had the gauge replaced. They are 30 to 40 years old
