A friend of mine has a massey 3 point hitch post hole digger with an 8" auger on it. The unit is free turning and worked. She wants to sell it, I may buy it at a fair price. Any suggestions of what this unit may be worth?

My son-in-law bought one at an auction and paid $200 for it with a 12" auger, has used it a lot. He thinks 12" isn't any too big, 8" would be small for many things.

I bought mine new from the Massey dealer (It's a "Cimmaron" brand) for $600 about five years ago. I specified an "agressive" auger It has two differently angled cutting blades on the leading edge of each flute(?). It cuts through the sandstome around here pretty well.

I'd say if you get it for two or three hundred, it'll probably be worth it.

I picked mine up from a guy who only dug 12 holes with his after he bought it new. It"s a Rino with a 12" auger....works great. Paid $500 for it. I use it on my MF135. Sounds like three or four hundred would be a steal.

This is an OLD Massey Fergusson PHD. The serial number tag is from Massey. Any ID is labeled Massey. This is an older unit that was purchased used by her X. I'll post the Massey #'s later tonight

This unit is a Massey Model 1 Post hole digger.

I don't know if that is of interest to collectors.

Brad
