Hi all,

I am new to this forum so please bear with me.

I recently purchased a 1958 MF65 tractor in working condition. It has a 4 cylinder gas engine. I am not too happy about the engine oil pressure. I get about 30 psi at around 1000RPM. I have just done an oil change and put in 10W30 to flush the system through (engine). What oil do you guys recommend for a -40 degree winter - 0W30? What should the oil pressure range be? Is there an adjustable oil pressure regulating valve on this engine?

Sorry about the basic questions. I am new to tractors and am having to feel my way around.

Any comments and help woud be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mariner

30 psi is normal. I have a '58 gas as well, only shows about 27-30 on the cool days, about 25 when shes hot. I don't have the tractor manual handy, but as I recall 30w oil is what was called for. Buy yourself a good repair & parts manual. Stay away from the IT books, they're not worth a whole lot. I've had my tractor for 5 years, never lets me down. One of these days I'll quit using it long enough to pretty her up.
