I just bought a new muffler. An arrow with inlet is on the muffler. Do I install this end on the manifold or have it facing out towards the back? Simple question with conflicting answers! Help!

Actually ( Just to confuse matters!)I am sure on our MF 1100 tractor, the word "inlet"stamped on the exhaust muffler had the arrow pointing towards the exhaust manifold.

Just a thought. Does just one end of the muffler have vertical 'saw cuts' in the end of the pipe to enable it to be clamped? If so that end fits on the outside of a pipe, therefore that end goes towards the exhaust manifold.

The arrow should show the direction of the exhaust flow.
