was wondering what a 1976 mf1085 with lift on rear not working would be worth?...runs fine,cab in good condition everything else works...thanks for any help...mike

Make him an offer for what you think a used engine is worth, that's what that tractor is worth right now. If you need the hydraulics, you have lots of work ahead or a big bill from a shop waiting. That`s only my personal opinion.

I bought a MF 1085 with cab & air. Good condition with only 3100 hours for $8,000. But after running it for 23 hours of PTO operation cutting and baling hay the PTO quit working under load.

It is being worked on now. Probably the pump that powers the PTO was weak letting the clutches burn up. Likely the bill will exceed $3,000.

So, it your lift not working is related to an internal pump problem it is very expensive to remove the cab and break the tractor to get to the problem.
