The right rear brake has locked on this tractor. The tractor is only used for mowing in one large field, and I have been using it for 4 years, and have never needed to apply the brakes. A friend drove it yesterday and used the brake, locking the right rear. Would disconnecting the master cylinder release the wheel? I don't want to make the problem worse, but COULD use the tractor with no brakes what-so-ever just fine. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the response, Tom. I guess the problem is more than likely in the master cylinder. Anyway, I disconnected the brake line to that wheel, it freed right up, and I"m sure it will keep cutting that field just fine without brakes (as long as the bush hog doesn"t die),LOL.

Not sure about your 290, but I have a MF690 that did the same with one rear wheel brake. I got under the tractor, had a helper push on the brake pedals, and watch the linkage move. I then sprayed engine cleaner on all the linkage. I then pryed slightly on an "arm" that the slave cylinder moves slightly to apply the brake. I then opened the bleed screw on the slave cylinder and bled some fluid out, and finally got the brake to release. I am now using the tractor and avoiding the brakes until proper repairs can be done. Planning to rebuild both slave cylinders and the master cylinders, flush and bleed. Do you have the MF Repair Manual and the MF Parts Manual; I needed both to figure it out.
