Detroit, Brantford, Racine..etc.. Are they all abandoned today?

What did they build in Toronto? Combines? When did they close it down?

My dad (73 yrs old) sold machine tools for about fifty years and he told me that theye was a Massey plant in Kansas and that it was still in operation. Maybe that was just where they made the engines. Mine has a continental Z-134. Anyone know about that?

My dad works in the building that used to be Badger Northland, back when Massey owned Badger. Now there's several companies renting a space in the building now, good to see it used for something....

I had an internship with CNH this summer in Racine, WI. While lost one day I happened upon a lot that was just gravel. On the lot there was still a water tower with a large MF logo on it. Its very sad to see the pictures you found. The Racine foundry and tractor plant is being torn down as we speak. There is so much history that is being lost for what some call progress.

There's more left of that than there is of Coventry. I pass the plant quite regularly and have seen it getting flatter and flatter. 3 years ago it was building 400 tractors a week, now it's a demolition site.

Yes Coventry is gone. I have a friend who worked for David Browns, Meltham then he moved to Doncaster when it closed down and became part of Case IH. He was in touch with one or two of the Massey "higher ups" and one of them remarked to him a few years back "Well I tell you what, if we become part of Agco that"ll be Coventry buggered then!"... How right he was.

REALLY? Are they tearing Coventry plant down? I thought Coventry was pretty modern facility and would have something other industry there nowadays... And it had pretty reputable history (Standard Motors Co.). Damn that is sad...

V8 - By far,the majority of the older Massey buildings in Brantford are history , with the exception of the Combine plant which was opened around 1962.I'm more familiar with the combine plant as I was hired to remove some of the construction debris before the plant became operational. Just sad to see a relatively modern plant idled like that. The buiding is being used by several smaller industries to-day.
