The front input shaft seal is shot on my 44 special. its got the flange that bolts to the front where the shaft goes in. is this seal one piece with the flange or is it removable from the flange? i dont want to tear it down with no source, and finding the source of the flange and all will be rough. any ideas? thanks!!!

Go to Sears and get a seal removal tool. Then pick the seal out but before you do, get the number off the seal.NAPA store or a John Deere parts department or Terry Kessel should be able to come up with a new seal for you. Clean the shaft up real good and grease the snot out of the shaft and seal before installing it.

The seal is a removable seal.also there is a gasket that goes under the three bolt bearing flange.

The flange that has three bolts on the input shaft has a removable seal, there is a guy at this address that can get alot of massey harris re-production parts, i have delt with him and is excellent he will more than likely have the seal you need, If you ask him for a parts sheet he will send you a sheet that will have other seals and parts that will work for your tractor and other masseys

hope this helps you
