I'm new to Masseys, but have a chance to buy a MF 235 in decent shape. I'd use it primarily to mow weeds on ten acres. Are they worth bringing home and anything to look out for? Thanks.

The power steering was a problem on these models(only made for two years.)I had to machine the arms and replace seals on mine.Do search in archives on this model, otherwise a very strong good working tractor!!!

The MF 235 is a real solid tractor. My dad has one that he bought new in 1976 with a Massey loader. It was used every day of the year to clean up the pole barn where he kept the cows, in additional to cultivating corn and running a rotary cutter in the summer. I eventually had to replaced the auxilliary hydraulic pump because
of all the loader use, but other than that it has never needed any other repairs except normal maintenance. I would never be afraid of one if it looks like it has been well taken care of, seems fairly tight, and doesn't have oil leaking out of it.
