I am with a school district in Michigan and have a 1965 MF 135 tractor. It has been unused for years. We have been approached by a party interested in purchasing the tractor "for parts." However, I have no idea how to determine the value of the equipment. Can anyone direct me to a website or publication that may offer help?

Thanks.

If it has a diesel engine and it is free (engine)and machine is intact, covers have been sealed it should be worth 1000-1500 for parts if it runs and 3 point operates add at least 1000. Do you have maintenance people who work for the school district maybe some could spend a few hours checking it out or trying to get it going

This is one thing I don't understanding,if tractor is owned by the school and school is public owned, doesn't the tractor have to be put up for public auction in MI? Here in Oregon anything that is public owned has to be put up for auction to the general population and schools are public owned.Just curious...Keith

DON@T EVEN THINK OF SELLING IT 'FOR PARTS'....yet!! As everyone says it all depends on how it has been stored, the amount of rust in the sheet metal and any deterioration or vandalism. It would be well worth asking an independant party who is familiar with MF's to have a look at and offer an opinion as to how much work would be required to breathe new life into it. Because it has been standing for years does not mean it's only worth scrap or parts. I am in the process of getting a 1966 IH 806 going which has not turned a wheel for some 25 years. Would you believe that the engine and clutch are still free.
Even if you have to pay someone, it could be money well spent.

so much depends on condition, a well maintained MF135 with rebuilt engine, newish tires and solid hydralics would be a bargain to me at $3500

a stuck MF135 with rotted tires and castings full of water that the kids have been vandalizing for years is practically worthless if I have to winch it on the trailer and haul it away

willing buyer and willing seller can always come to an agreement

Around these parts, Massey 135's in running condition are bringing around $5500 and up. This is a general statement, and I have never seen one for $3500 around here.....

$3500 is top dollar for them in West Virginia. 2500-3000 is common
