Man is a Perkins 3 Cylinder Engine is heavy! My pump was knocking some on the Massey 135 that was lifting it with a boom & chain. When I got it into my shop I then relised how heavy it was when my hoist lifted it off of the boom! I had a hard time with a heavy duty cable hoist ratcheting the handle. It must weight at least 1,000 lbs with that 2 stage clutch & flywheel on it. Now I know why they spin for a while when turned off. That is the biggest clutch assembley & flywheel I have seen for such a small engine. I did a compression test on it befor I pulled it and it read allmost 140 psi on all 3 cylinders. You sure don't want to put one one a cheap engine stand. Anyone know what one weights with the flywheel and clutch still on it? Mark H.

Sounds like the engine from my ollie 1600. That was a VERY heavy engine, definatley wasn't going to use a small hoist to put it back in. My dad got one for me that lifts 2 ton all the way in, and 1000 stretched. I had to strecth it all the way to clear the frame and I still broke off the zerk on the front axel pin. I had a hard time pumping the hyd jack on the hoist, but I got it in alright. Had the Hydra Power bolted on the back end also, but that's maybe 150 lbs extra.

My Hand Operated Cable Hoist is rated for 1 1/2 tons double pull 3/4 ton single pull and it is not a cheap one cost $150.00 new. It has pulled a lot of engines, electric motors and such. Just makes you feel funny when you realy pull hard on the handle to lift something up. It hangs off a steel Angle Iron bracket spaning 4 trusses on the ridge of my shop just below the tin Ridge Cap and above the plywood for the most strength. Mark H.

I wish I had a set-up like that, but I don't really have an indoor shop yet. Been prying on my dad to build something the last couple years, but it just isn't in the budget.
