MF 135 Rear Differential has Locked Up?

Posting this message to help my father-in-law. He has a MF-135 (64-66 model), gas engine, 2WD. Recently, after reaching operating temperature, it seems as though the rear differential is locking both rear axles together. The rear wheels both drive and will not allow the tractor to steer (The front wheels turn fine, but the tractor continues straight ahead). This happens in high/low, forward/reverse and every gear. Anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Thanks for any and all help.

You may have had some damage accure inside the spider gears in the center of the differential that have locked them up. That would be my idea unless a rivet or something off the ring gear got into the spiders. Mark H.

DOES THE TRACTOR HAVE A POSI LOCK? MAYBE IT IS STUCK IN POSI? CHECK FOR FOOT PEDAL ON RIGHT REAR UNDER THREE POINT CONTOLS

I second that, it is so easy to accidentally put your foot on that pedal, they have a nasty habit of sticking down too.

That was it Fellows - Thanks in reply to Roy in UK, 08-16-2005 22:33:13
It turned out to the the Posi-lock level. The bolt that hold the lever had worked it's way loose and the level was flopping into the locked position.
Thanks again for all the help!
