I got out to look at the serial number today for the massey 44.... it is 44 GR 21919 ..... I am making a book for my grandpa on the history and background to all his tractors.. so if anyone could get me the background to this particular tractor that would be awesome!

The tractor is a 1951 gas row crop model of which there were almost 10,000 built that year.It has a 260 cubic inch displacement, sleeved engine and a 5 speed transmission Most were equipped with 5.50/16" front tires and 12/38 rear tires. It had a Velvet Ride seat and came from the factory with an Exide 6 volt battery.

Looks like a 1951 model to me, is it restored or still working.

It is fully restored and runs excellent except for a hydraulic fluid leak when it sits.....

Yup, mine probably leaks in the same spot if I ever bothered to look for it, a good old tractor been around longer than I have, and I still put her to work once in a while. Look on the online book seller pages, there are a coule really good massey books out there.
