Hello

I have a MH 101 JR (That"s what the data plate says).

I am currently in the process of rebuilding the engine with my father. It is stuck solid. The exhaust manifold was absolutely full or corrosion to the point of having to chisel the entire intake/exhaust ports of the head. Unbelievable. Well, the motor is totally locked still. We"ve taken the head off/valves out, no help. Now lightly sanding the corrosion out of the cylinders and then plan on filling them with kerosene and placing a 100,000 btu heater facing the block and boiling the kerosene in to try to lube through the pistons to move them. We don"t want to destroy the rings/pistons and such unless absolutely necessary. What a project! the metal is all there, so worth the effort.

Back to my original question. My 101 JR has a single front wheel, instead of the standard 2 wheel tricycle. I have not seen this often, but know there were tractors with this. It does not appear to be a modification. The serial matches up with the 101 JR RC (Even thought the plate doesn"t indicate RC) numbers on the site as the last year they were made, 1946. What is RC as opposed to 101 JR and 101 JR Standard?

Thanks

BTW, I also have a MH 30 that runs great, gotta love them old MHs...

The single front wheel was a option offered by Massey Harris.I have a MH-30 with the single front wheel. The J stands for Junior model. The R is for row-crop.Your tractor should have a four cylinder engine. The RC also stands for row-crop from what I find in my Massey book. Here is a question for you.Why do people call a row-crop tractor with the wheels close together on the front a tricycle when a tricycle has only three wheels.
