Man I need some big time help. While bush hogging I tangled up in some vines and broke my muffler and exhaust manifold off. The muffler fell on my leg(red hot) ouch! The muffler and manifold is not the problem because I had done that one time before and had another manifold. Got everything back together and now when I shift gears nothing happens. I mean it WON'T GO. I can go thru the grers but the tractor won't move. The lift and everything works fine but it won't budge. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Roby Two thing that will cause that is the clutch is slipping or has the hub strip out the other is the shear coupler in the rear center housing has sheared or the cotter pin that holds it on to the differential pinion shaft has came out and let the coupler slide forward off the pinion To see if it is a clutch problem put both shift levers in gear remove the filler plug and look in it to see if the gears are turn if not it is the clutch. If the gears ore turning then it probably is the shear coupler. If I can be of further help Email me.

Not familiar with a MF231, but it sounds like you kicked something into "Neutral" during the mishap. (Something totally unrelated to your muffler problem). I know my old 8N Ford had a neutral between the High and Lo Range. JD and IHC Tractors are thay way too. Make sure everything"s IN GEAR. I also left a Chev Pickup 4X4 set in the garage for 3 months thinking it needed a transmission because my son said it "won"t move". When I took it out for repair I realized that the transfer case shifter was in neutral. Embarrassing !
