I run a 6 ft. easily with just grass, below 3 ft. tall. Mows out wheel tracts.

Depends on your grass, at the moment i have a 5 footer on mine (although, it is diesel) and find it is too small. im not using hardly any power, and running in second gear high range, and can run in third gear easlily, but thats just too much when you get to turning, or a bump!

When i buy a new one, i will be looking for about 7 foot. Mine with then 5 footer will go through thistles higher than the bonnet in second gear high range. Although, that will bog it a little bit!

f its shortish grass, and your doing a lot, buy something a bit bigger, if the grass is long, or you dont have much to do, buy the 5 footer - 5 foot is certainly easy to get into fields!

Ben

Go with the 5 footer. Had a 6ft. and tried it on a 76 gas model like you have and it was too much in anything tall or heavy.

5 footer works great with a 35 diesel.

I have 5 footer on mine and it works great

set your rear wheels in as far as they will go without hitting the fender and center your bush hog as best you can, hog will stick out each side just a bit

you will be able to squeeze between trees without wedging a wider mower but still mow the stuff the rear tires knock down
