Anyone had any luck finding a cross reference for the massey harris part numbers, I am looking for some bearings for the stearing gear box on a 44, nothing left in it to get a number off, never seen anything that far gone, when I took the whole deal apart I only found 6 rollers from the bearings what looks like is left of a race in the gear box say's bower 6 on it and the bearing at the bottom of the narrow front has a timken number on it so that should be easy to find. So I am looking for the 2 bearings and races for the stearing gear box, the seal, some thing called the sleave lash adjuster (760 901 m1 in the parts book)and the stearing box shaft seals, the one number I found was a chicago rawhide 14331a. I have seen some worn out stuff, but don't think you could have turned the wheels with the tractor jacked up, I expected to replace all this stuff anyway but just never saw one this far gone, and how hard are the wheel bearing seals to get ahold of now day's for these old tractors, haven't tried to get one in 20 years. Also going to need a rim for the front, haven't looked for that yet. Thanks..
Kevin

Try your massey dealer on theses parts . They should be able to pull them up on there computer . My local massey dealer has been very helpful in numbers and parts .Just be prepared to here the ugly word "obselete" . Good luck

A bearing supply house will be able to match most
anything you can't get help with though MF. But
the numbers mean nothing, they need to see the parts. The open sleeve, that the worm gear fits
into, is very difficult. There are two numbers for the end bearings on the worm, that appear the
same, but don't fit the same. When you test each,
you find they fit better in one arrangement, than
the other. Good luck.

Thanks, wish there was something left to take in to a bearing place, I wasn"t kidding when I said nothing was left, guess I will have to fix up the worm shaft where the bearings were and take the whold thing in and see what they can find that will fit..

The worm bearings are Timken 5-BA, and 5-BC. This
is a correct start. Good luck. Post back.

Will be a week or so until I get time to get back at this, went down and picked up a brand new goose neck trailer last friday, been trying to get it ready to pass the dot inspection first try, in Minnesota anything over 10,000 GVW has to be dot inspected, as does the truck pulling it, I usually get lucky as I go across the moving scale if they see the right color stickers I get the green light to leave, so I only want to do this once, have to build up the worn spots on the worm shaft with nickel rod and chuck it in the lathe and fix it back up , this post will probably will be gone by the time I get this close to going back together so I will post a new thread when I get there, Thanks for the numbers, will write them down and give them a try when I am ready.
