I have a 1965 MF135 Continental 145 gas engine deluxe model. I just built a beautiful 16x24' shed to keep her out of the weather. After working her pretty hard at pulling the bush-hog for a couple of hours I parking her on the new smooth concrete floor of the shed. After a little while I noticed a couple of drops of transmission/hydo oil on the floor under the weep hole where the loose cotter pin is located. There were only a couple of drops and it didn't continue, just a couple of drops. Is this an indication of a problem? Is there some type of preventative measures I can take? I'm about to change the engine oil and replace the spark plug wires. Are these drops a warning of a fatal breakdown? thanks for any help you can offer. JC

It's not uncommon for there to be a small leak from that weephole and that until the leak gets worse, or until you need to split the tractor to work on another problem, you live with it. The leak can come from a couple of different sources. Check other postings (specifically look for information from Big Dean) and you will find more information on this topic to help you sort it out.

This is normal for a tractor with some age. Either the engine rear seal or the transmission seal leak some oil. The hole and jiggly cotter pin are there for the express purpose of allowing this oil to escape from the bell housing instead of building up and contaminating the clutch surfaces. As TRC said, just contend with the drip until something else requires splitting the tractor. Place an old cookie/cake pan with some kitty litter under the drip to keep your new floor clean. For pete's sake don't use a good cake pan or you'll have a mad wife and no cake.

Cute response but the ones I really like are the ones where someone puts something in the oven and it messes up the oven and stinks up the kitchen.

One post I remember where the guy got in hot water was heating the starter ring gear for the flywheel. Cranked the oven up to 350 and let her cook. Wife was very unhappy.
