I have been rebuilding a MH-50 tractor over the past couple of months and i thought that i was one day away from cranking her up but as i was looking everything over i noticed that the pto clutch was not working. I replaced both drive and pto clutch and when i push the clutch pedal down it stops about 1/2 way down. It releases the main clutch but it wont go down any farther. Can anyone tell me how i can check it to see if it is just stuck or does it sound like it needs adjusted? Hopefully i dont have to split her apart again. Please help!

I had a similar problem after rebuilding my MF50. Did you replace the clutch finger cap screws when you replaced the disks. If not you may not be able to get enough adjustment to release the pto clutch. I had to adjust the clearance to a little over 0.100 to get the clutch to release. Also the pedal does not go down as far as it did before the rebuild. I have about 30 hours on it since rebuild and the more I use it the easier it is to engage the pto.

Hi Nitro Unless you have the pto clutch bolts screwed out to far and they are stopping the main pressure plate from going past half way you are going to have to split it to repair it. I have never saw them screwed out that far and am not sure they are long enough to do that. If they are then the pto clutch should be released when you have the pedal as far down as it will go. You can adjust those bolts up through the hole in the bottom of the transmission bellhousing.
