Our 165 Clutch does not disengaged properly (gears grind), unless the constant pump lever is on. This condition is worse when the tractor is cold. Is there an adjustment that can be made or is this a sign of greater problems?

Is this the main transmission or the PTO gears that grind I assume if putting the pump in constant pumping it does not grind it is the pto as how they both use the pto clutch. I have a picture that show how to adjust both the main clutch pedal free travel and the bolts inside where you go up though the hole in the bottom of the transmission bellhousing to adjust the pto clutch. I can email that picture to you if you will send me an email address.

M F 135 UK model . Hi dean, I am having some problems with the PTO grinding gears when trying to engage the PTO.. it is a fairly new Clutch put in by Small Massey dealer shop. It seems to be only about one inch above the floor board that activates the PTO clutch. It takes a lot of pressure to get the peddle down that one inch to stop the meshing of gears. I would like to try my own adjustment, so could you send the mentioned picture to me also.Thank You.. I will send email to your website for my return address. RAY-S.

Thanks, Big Dean for your response. The main gears grind. However, I have not used the pto for quite awhile so have not checked that out. I appreciate your offer for a picture. I will send you my e-mail addres to your website.

Ken
