why would a person change the 24spd powershift
on my 2775 back to 8 spd?
I dont get it?
I know that these Trannie,s on these tractor,s are tough as nail,s,or supposed to be,
Is it a pressure problem in the spacer,s inside case, or is it fear that a problem would or might arise down the road?
I dont mind stopping to shift every time,
But it would be nice to have the powershift to change gears on the go when I need to,
Please help,
Kirk c,

I second Tony. I worked at a Massey dealer just after Massey stopped producing them and we were still dealing with 24 speed problems. If I remember right, the main problem was loss of oil pressure to the clutch packs due to gaskets blowing out between passages, piston seals failing, and other high pressure oil leaks that seemed to crop up. As soon as the pressure dropped, the pack involved would start slipping and totally burn up in short order, usually taking many other expensive parts with it. I remember a few of these units totally scrapping out, requiring complete replacement, a VERY expensive proposition. Massey lost alot of money on these tractors as most initial failures occurred under warranty. Some improvements were made to reduce the liklihood of the problem, but I don't think it was ever completely resolved.

24 speed is very troublesome. When it operated correctly it was great. But oh if it didn"t. Expensive to fix & keep that way.
